Legacy Clients Options

Selecting Legacy Clients in the left panel of the Options tab provides the following view, where you can configure the -Xmx setting used by the client JVM launched by the Java Webstart application on client systems accessing ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine.

Changing a value from the system default causes a Default Value button to appear. Selecting this button changes the field back to the system default value.

Client JVM

Maximum Java Heap Size (MB)
Enter the -Xmx value (in MB) used by client system accessing ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine legacy Java applications.

In large networks, the default Java Heap Size is not large enough for the legacy Java applications in ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine. However, increasing the value limits the systems that are able to access the applications to only 64-bit systems with enough physical memory for the amount of memory configured in this field. Additionally, if the Java heap memory setting is too large for the system attempting to access the legacy Java application, the Java application does not open successfully and an error message for the user does not display.

Changes to this setting are automatically saved to the ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine server.
NOTE:64-bit Windows systems can use a 32-bit Java Web Start application, which needs to be upgraded to use larger amounts of memory necessary to access the legacy Java applications in ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine. Use the Windows Task Manager to indicate which processes are 32-bit.
